It seems like as soon as Barbara Rose Brooker begins The Rant something pulls her away from her podcast - something important like writing, teaching, or painting. However, what is also important to this magnificient woman is her purpose in life - that purpose is to live each day with positivity and to fulfill her dreams one step at a time. She shares her voices and encourages individuals of all demographics to live life to the fullest and avoid the pitfalls of AGEISM.

“My dad (my grandfather) quit school after the 7th grade. One of thirteen children, he had to contribute to the family income. So when dad began to write he used words he was familiar with. As a young man he entered a contest (so he said) put on by the Mayflower Doughnut Company. They were looking for a slogan for their budding business. Dad, Abe Moss said he won first prize (one dozen doughnuts for a year (for his jingle.
‘As you ramble through life brother whatever be your goal keep your eye upon the doughnut not upon the hole.’
Dad (my grandpa Abe) was also a teller of funny stories, we raised an eyebrow with each telling of his victory but he didn’t deny it to his dying day and I am proud to continue his claim.”
My father and my brothers developed the writing gene passed down by my Grandpa Abe. For years I was told I should leave the writing to the men of the family until the day I started writing from my heart. Unlike my Grandpa I have not won a dozen doughnuts per week for a year for my writing, but I am grateful that is how he got his start and that the talent lives on.
